Used the GLM 80 in both handheld and tripod held mode to perform a topographic survey. While this is no transit or survey grade level it was fast and the horizontal distance and vertical rise calculations were immediate. It worked best "on the fly" when doing measurements early morning and late afternoon when ambient light was no problem. Its one drawback was when taking a vertical measurement it didn't lock in whether the vertical was positive or negative so care needed to be taken to note whether the measured angle was positive or negative at the time of measurement before moving the device.
