Mechanical planimeters are the most popular types. They are economical and offer good overall accuracy and range for most applications involving medium sized areas.
The measuring wheel rides directly on the measuring surface. It is integrated into a measuring mechanism with a dial, drum and vernier readout system with a maximum counting capacity of 4 digits (9999).
Lasico's Planimeters are among the most precise and reliable instruments of this type with these features: All Lasico Planimeters are supplied with a pole weight rather than a needle pole, which easily mutilates a table surface and cannot be used on desks with hard laminated tops. Furthermore, all models are equipped with a vernier magnifier and with a zero set wheel. Features like a tilted body design and a parallax free tracer lens permit convenient operation without the need to bend over the instrument during tracing and readout. N-Models equipped with a tracer stylus (select model type below).
Typical Measuring Range is 6" x 13". With the optional adjustable pole arm, the range increases approximately 20% more (with optional pole arm, the range becomes 7" x 13.5").
Comes equipped with a fixed tracer arm but with a choice of either a lens tracer (L-Models) or needle tracer (N-Models).
