Introducing MAG SNAKE, which when used in conjunction with the DML2000 Magnetic locator allows you to locate any Septic Tank, including plastic tanks that are buried up to 12 feet deep. The revolutionary MAG SNAKE comes equipped with a magnetic header that allows you to trace underground pipe and locate any Septic Tank; concrete, steel or plastic.
The Mag Snake requires a DML2000 Magnetic Locator for proper operation. The DML2000 is sold separately.
"IF YOU CAN SNAKE IT WE CAN FIND IT"
As a general rule most locates can be performed with the sensitivity control set to position 4, however for deep tanks and particularly plastic tanks you may wish to increase the sensitivity setting and conversely for steel tanks or shallow tanks a lower sensitivity setting may be preferable.
The DML2000 Magnetic Locator was designed to pinpoint buried iron or steel pipe, survey markers, water valves, water meters, manhole covers, all steel septic tanks and most concrete septic tanks. But in some cases a septic tank can be elusive: that is when Mag Snake comes to the rescue. When Mag Snake is used along with a Dunham & Morrow DML2000 magnetic locator you can be certain that you will always find your septic tank.
Mag Snake consists of an extremely powerful permanent magnet welded to the end of 100 feet or more of stainless steel fish tape. Designed with ruggedness in mind the MS100/200 comes with a large molded handle and an easy to operate manual rewind mechanism. With Mag Snake you can trace any pipe up to 12' below ground level and find any septic tank steel, concrete or plastic. Just feed the Mag Snake header into the pipe and follow the header with your DML2000 magnetic locator as it progresses. As the header moves through the pipe there is a frequency peak in front of the header and another peak behind the header. The easiest way to trace the header is to follow the second peak and when the magnetic header tips over and drops into the tank this signal will increase dramatically, and then slowly decrease as the header descends.
To maximize your locating effort you should hold and slowly sweep the instrument back and forth as you walk along. Remember it is essential to make yourself magnetically clean. While using the DML2000 magnetic locator you should avoid wearing shoes with steel toe protectors or steel arch supports. In addition you should keep all vehicles and personnel carrying ferrous tools such as shovels or picks away from the search area.
