HOW TO SET UP A GPS TRIPOD PROPERLY

You should start with the tripod in a horizontal position. You hand-hold it, or you can place it on the ground. Extend the center pole to your desired height, and raise the tripod horizontally while turning it vertically. Set the ground point down, and extend the legs while kicking them into the ground. Secure one leg at a time to the angle you want. And from there, you can easily pivot the tripod until the bubble is as close to the center as possible. Adjust one leg at a time to level the tripod. And from there, you can install the antenna.

SECO RECEIVER WITH GPS POLE TRANSPORTER

You shouldn't drive on public roads with the receiver and transporter installed, because you want to keep safety in mind. You want to insert the hitch into the receiver by sliding the pin into one of the two holes, but the crossbar needs to be as close to the bumper as possible. Rotate the bumper grip so the hook can engage the inside lip, and tighten the knob so the hook is snug. Attach the pole transporter by using the two quick-release pins, and use the two bolts to attach the crossbar

Frequently Asked Questions

What is GPS survey equipment?

GPS stands for “Global Positioning System,” and it uses signals coming from satellites to pinpoint a specific location. It can also provide data about the speed and time synchronization for different forms of travel. This can be an advantage for land surveyors, because it allows them to get what they need almost instantaneously. As long as the instrument has a clear view of the sky to receive the signals coming from satellites, GPS land surveying can give you the highest degree of accuracy and can be much faster than more traditional surveying methods.

How does GPS survey equipment work?

Every piece of GPS for equipment is used for different purposes, but there are three methods of GPS measurement:
  • Static GPS Baseline— This method is used to find the coordinates for specific survey points by recording GPS observations over both known and unknown locations for at least 20 minutes. Then, the data is processed so the coordinates can be determined within a 5mm accuracy.
  • Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) Observations— One receiver stays open over a known point (called the “base station”), while another receiver moves between different positions (called the “rover station”). By using a radio link, the position of the rover station can be calculated in a few seconds. And as long as it’s within 10km of the base station, it can give you a level of accuracy that’s similar to the baseline method.
  • Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS)— A survey grade GPS receiver is installed at a specific location as a starting point for GPS measurements in that area. GPS survey equipment can then be used to collect data while combining it with the CORS data to accurately calculate different positions.

How do I use GPS survey equipment?

Certain instruments are needed for GPS land surveying, which can include but may not be limited to:
  • GPS Receivers— These devices are needed to receive signals from GPS satellites, so you can make the calculations you need. They also come with a variety of optional features (such as multiple band channels, built-in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi technology, and OLED displays).
  • GPS Rover Rods— These instruments can be used to extend the rover’s range. They can be made from a number of durable materials and can come in different lengths.
  • GPS Poles— They’re used to mount GPS survey equipment. They’re lightweight, durable, and can come in different lengths.
  • GPS Bipods/Tripods— Different GPS equipment can be mounted on them, so more stability can be achieved. They can also be adjusted to different lengths.
  • GPS Antennae— They make it possible for GPS systems to receive signals from satellites. Many devices come with internal antennae, but you can use these devices to get more signal strength.
  • Total Stations— They combine the functions of an electronic theodolite with an electronic distance meter (EDM) device, and they come with software that you can run on your computer. Total stations can be used to determine the coordinates of different survey points by measuring angles and distances, but they can also use GPS technology to get more precise results.
The cost of GPS for equipment can vary. But if you want to get the best value for your money, be sure to look at what we have in stock.

Can I rent GPS survey equipment?

There are places where you can rent GPS equipment you can use for surveying. And in some cases, this option may be more economical. You may only need it for a specific project, or you may want to try out the equipment before you decide to buy it.
