The AXIF-45 tip delivers an angled fan spray pattern at 45 degrees, while the AXIF-90 tip delivers an angled fan spray pattern at 90 degrees. AXIR-15 tip delivers a reverse round spray pattern that’s great for hard-to-reach areas.

THE FASCINATING HISTORY OF BLUEPRINTS

A blueprint is a reproduction of a technical drawing that uses a contact print process on light-sensitive paper, but the name refers to two separate methods. The first blueprinting method was invented by Sir John Herschel in 1842, and it produced white lines on a blue background. The light-sensitive paper turns blue because of a chemical reaction, and it leaves the corresponding drawing as a series of white lines. The diazo type was invented in the early 1940’s, as the cyano type of blueprint was supplanted by diazo prints (also known as “whiteprints”). This process leaves blue lines on a white background, which was simpler and used equipment that was easier to maintain.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a single-action and double-action airbrush?

The terms “single-action” and “double-action” refer to how the air and paint flow is controlled. Single-action airbrushes spray in a way that’s similar to an aerosol can. Press the trigger to get it to start spraying, while the amount of paint that comes out can be controlled by twisting a knob or screw located near the tip. A double-action airbrush will give you more control, which is essential for working fine lines and to produce the classic “dagger stroke.” This type of airbrush has two trigger movements, and it’s sometimes referred to as “internal-mix” airbrushes because the air and pain mix inside the nozzle.

Where is the Paasche airbrush made?

Every Paasche airbrush compressor and set is made in Kenosha, Wisconsin. But the company is based in Chicago. Paasche has been manufacturing airbrushes for over 100 years, and they're based on patented designs. Feel free to look at what we have at Engineer Supply, so you can find a Paasche airbrush set that’s right for you!

How do I clean a Paasche airbrush?

Cleaning a Paasche airbrush set properly after each use is important if you want it to run smoothly and efficiently. An airbrush can be an expensive investment, and the best way to protect it is to do a quick clean every time you finish using it. To clean your Paasche airbrush, you can perform the following steps:
  • Loosen the needle chucking nut.
  • Pull back the needle slightly to open the flow.
  • Put a few drops of airbrush cleaner into the color cup.
  • Clean the cup with a cotton swab or makeup brush.
  • Pull the needle back and reattach the chucking nut.
  • Flush the airbrush with cleanser until it comes out clear (when there's no paint left in the Paasche airbrush).
To do a deep clean, you’ll need to disassemble the airbrush according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Soak the needle cap, nozzle, and nozzle cap in rubbing alcohol (99% isopropyl) and wipe the needle with the same solution. Once every part has been cleaned, reassemble the airbrush according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

How do I assemble a Paasche airbrush?

You can find directions on how to assemble and disassemble your Paasche airbrush by looking at the manufacturer’s manual, which needs to be done if you want to perform a deep clean on your unit. Just make sure you have the latest products and cleaning supplies, so you can keep your airbrush maintained.
