WHAT ARE HANGING CLAMPS?

Hanging clamps can be used to hold blueprints or any other large documents for storing on a blueprint stand and are sometimes called “drawing clamps,” “drawing sticks,” or “blueprint clamps.” They allow you to hang multiple large-format documents in a clothesline-like fashion, and they have several parts. The steel wing knobs will allow you to loosen or tighten the clamp as you see fit, but there’s also a steel clip with a spring. You will also find a label holder made of a clear plastic, which can be used for organizational purposes. And they will often have an extruded anodized aluminum construction. Hanging clamps aren’t adjustable in length, but you can find them in several different sizes.

WHAT IS A BLUEPRINT?

A blueprint is a reproduction of a technical drawing that uses a contact print process on light-sensitive paper, and the name applies to two different processes. The original method was invented by Sir John Herschel in 1842, and it produced white lines on a blue background. The light-sensitive paper turns blue because of a chemical reaction, while leaving the corresponding drawing as a set of white lines. The diazotype method was invented in the early 1940’s, and it left blue lines on a white or light-colored background. The process is inherently simple. The copiers had fewer complicated parts, and their maintenance was inexpensive. Most of them can last for well over 20 years with a great deal of reliability and minimal downtime. But in both methods, the original drawing is produced on vellum or some other medium that allows light to pass through.

What should be included in my art portfolio?

You don’t want to include artwork of which you’re not proud. It’s okay to show pieces that could used improvement, but you should be proud of your entire collection. You want your portfolio to showcase the skills you already have.

How do I organize my art portfolio?

Your art portfolio should focus on three things, which include:
  • Format— In today’s Digital Age, a lot of things have opened up for artists when it comes to showcasing their work. So, they can choose between a physical portfolio or a digital one.
  • Content — Not only does your art portfolio need to showcase your best work, but it also needs to have plenty of information about yourself and your creative process.

What is an art portfolio case?

An artist portfolio case can be used to protect, carry, and present your artwork to current or prospective clients. You can find them in a number of styles and configurations, so you should choose one that will meet your specific needs.

What are the different types of portfolio cases?

The term “portfolio case” can mean different things to different people, so you should make sure you have an understanding of what will fall into this category. The traditional zippered portfolio is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of an architect portfolio case. It’s made of a semi-rigid vinyl with a grain texture that’s designed to mimic the feel of leather, but you can also find one made of a fabric that’s stretched around a wire frame. Canvas art bags (also called “student portfolios”) are at a lower price point, which is why they’re often used by students. Expandable portfolios are the most versatile because they can accommodate anything from paper to foamboard, and they will even carry framed art.

What should be included in an architectural portfolio?

Whether you’re a professional or a student, an architectural portfolio is one of the most important tools you can have. It should be presented through a careful selection of drawings, images, text, and photographs that represent a record of your experience with regard to your architectural skills, methods, and abilities.
