TRIBRACH ADAPTER WITH PRECISE ADJUSTER

Seco’s 2071-00 tribrach adapter allows you to set your prism target to the same height as your instrument, even when you change position. Mount your prism to the adapter, and use a ruler to measure from the bottom to your tilting axis. Adjust it up or down until it’s at the desired height. HOW TO USE A SECO TRIBRACH ADJUSTING CYLINDERS

The first thing you’ll need is an instrument stand or tripod. You’ll also need a laser tribrach to help you adjust the instrument that you plan to use. Position the tripod, and place the cylinder on your tribrach. Put your target on the ceiling above, but it doesn’t need to be exact. Focus your optical plummet on the target, and use the bottom leveling screws to tilt the instrument until it’s pointed exactly on your target. Rotate the device 180 degrees to check your calibration, and move it back to the other side. Look through the instrument again, and adjust it as necessary. Repeat the process until the instrument is centered on your target from Point A to Point B, but make sure you check every quadrant.

Turn on the laser plummet by pressing the appropriate button.
Look at the point you want to set the instrument over, and pay attention to where the laser dot is in relation to the point.
Determine the direction the laser dot needs to move to get over the point.
Rotate the instruments leveling screws to center the laser dot exactly on the point.
Adjust the tripod legs up or down to center the bull’s eye bubble on the instrument, but make sure you do one leg at a time.
Make sure the laser plummet dot is still on or close to the point.
Use the leveling screws to center the bubble exactly on the instrument.
Slightly loosen the instrument’s attachment clamp on the tripod.
While looking at the laser plummet dot, slide the instrument until it’s exactly on the point. But make sure you don’t rotate the instrument.
Tighten the attachment clamp, and double-check the level.

Make sure you re-level and repeat as necessary until the instrument is exactly level and over the point.
