Electronic Levels

If you're looking for accuracy when shooting grades and establishing elevations, Electronic Levels are more accurate. They read a bar code specially made and graduated grade rod and the Electronic Level keeps up with the elevations, does the sighting and math for you which increases accuracy. An Electronic Level covers many construction applications as it automatically determines your delta height. Enter your benchmark, measure your back sight, measure the foresight and the result will be displayed instantly. Optical reading is no longer necessary as the bar code on the grade rod determines height and distance which is displayed on a highly visible LCD display. There will be no misreading or human error when reading the rod measurements. Leica manufacturers very high quality products and the Leica Sprinter is no exception. The Leica Sprinter is engineered and built with quality and ease of use in mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do digital levels work?

An electronic level reads a bar code located on a graduated rod that’s designed to measure elevation or grade. And because it will do the math for you, it has more accuracy. A digital level can be used in many construction applications, because it will automatically measure your delta height. Just enter your benchmark, take your measurements, and the result will be instantly displayed.

Can digital levels be used for surveying?

A digital level is considered to be a standard piece of equipment for surveyors, and it’s often used with a leveling rod so the height or height difference can be measured at specific points (where at least one has a known elevation). Feel free to look at the broad selection of builder levels we have at Engineer Supply.

How accurate is an electronic level?

While it costs more than a bubble level, an electronic level has more added functions that make it more accurate. It’s also easy to use, relatively foolproof, and incredibly accurate. Not only can a digital level enhance the functions of a standard level, but it also has features you can’t get with a bubble vial.

How do I calibrate a digital level?

You can calibrate an electronic level by taking the following steps:
  • Put the unit on a flat surface with the screen facing you before you turn it on.
  • Press and hold the “Calibrate” button for 4-5 seconds until the display changes to “CALI.”
  • Press and release the “Calibrate” button again. The display will flash and change to “CAL2.”
  • Rotate the digital level counterclockwise, while keeping it on the same flat surface.
  • Press and release the “Calibrate” button again. The display will flash while the device is being adjusted.
Once it stops adjusting, the builder level will be calibrated.
