HOW TO USE THE DISTO POINTFINDER

The Disto Pointfinder is a laser measuring tape that can be used for determining long outdoor distances. You can’t see the laser when it’s more than a few feet from the target, so you’ll need to use a camera to find the point from which you want to measure. The camera also has a 4x zoom, which can come in handy if you’re having trouble finding the target. While you can use it without a tripod, it’s often recommended because it will keep the camera steady as you measure. You can, however, use a timer so you can have enough time to find your target before the distance is read.

USING THE OTR SERIES FIBERGLASS TAPE MEASURE

The OTR Series Fiberglass Tape Measure is built to withstand more wear and tear than any other tape measure on the market. The tape is reinforced with two coats of PVC, which makes it more resistant to breakage and damage. The handle is also easy to grasp. And with a metal-reinforced crank handle, you can get years of rugged use. You can find measuring tapes for 100, 200, or 300 feet of distance (which includes both feet and inches). So, you can get accurate measurements whenever you need them.

Open-casing tapes can be used for longer distances, and it will have a carrying handle that allows you to retract it more quickly. The tape can be made out of metal or fiberglass. And while metal is more durable, it can be affected by extreme heat. They can also conduct electricity. So if you plan to use them around these types of hazards, a fiberglass tape will be the be the best option.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is measuring tape?

Also called a “tape measure,” measuring tape is made of a ribbon of cloth, fiberglass, or metal with linear-measurement markings. And it’s a common tool that's used for measuring. The design of an engineer’s tape measure allows you to measure a great distance, and it can be easily carried in your pocket or toolkit. It also allows you to measure around curves and corners, which can be an advantage for many contractors and builders.

Can measuring tape be used to measure height?

The best measure tape can be used to determine the distance between any two points, whether it’s horizontal or vertical. How accurate is a tape measure?

One engineer’s tape measure isn’t as accurate as another. And while many of these tape measures are good for most users, some people need something a little more accurate.

When was the tape measure invented?

Measuring tape was invented in Sheffield, which was the center of England’s steel industry. According to an official city marker on one of their old factories, a man named James Chesterman patented the tape measure in 1829. He also invented the “self-winding window blind” and the “first woven metallic tape.”
