HOW DOES LAND SURVEYING WORK?

Land surveyors have to make precise measurements with special equipment, so they can determine the exact location of boundary lines. In fact, almost every property development project starts with a survey. There are several different land surveying processes, depending on the type of surveying that needs to be done. Construction or engineering surveyors study changes in property lines and identify the location of boundaries or roads. Geodetic surveys use satellites and aerial imaging to measure large portions of the earth, while boundary or land surveys are used to determine the location of property lines. Surveyors often use a theodolite, which measures horizontal and vertical angles between points. But they can also use different levels to help them with their work.

HOW TO MAINTAIN A TRIPOD OR BIPOD

A Seco tripod is easy to maintain without any tools. Start by unscrewing the stop guide, which separates the inner part of the leg from the outer. And once that’s completed, you’ll be able to slide out the outer leg. Over time, you may see the presence of small dings that can prevent movement and sliding, but it can be replaced as a part. You can clean the outer leg by flushing it with fresh water or by using an air hose. The point should also be cleaned and lubed, so it doesn’t get stuck. The design of the inner leg is simple, with a cone and cam that's located on the end. The spring forces the cone into the cam, which pushes it into the outer wall. This mechanism can occasionally get unlubricated. And if that happens, it won’t turn properly. You should occasionally take it apart, so it can be cleaned and lubed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are work lights used for?

A work light can serve as a portable source of illumination, which can come in handy if people have to work in an area with little or no lighting. It’s a versatile piece of equipment that can be invaluable in terms of worker safety. And the light source can be incandescent, fluorescent, or LED.

What should I look for in a work light?

Before you buy a portable work light, you should think about how you plan to use it because it will determine what kind of light you need to buy and which features you should look for. The area you plan to work in will determine the size, style, and power your work light will need to have for it do its job correctly.

How bright of a work light do I really need?

Light output (or light brightness) is measured in lumens, which refers to the amount of light that's visible to the human eye. So the more lumens are present, the brighter the light will be. Depending on the light you have (such as a battery-powered work light), more brightness will result in shorter run time before it needs to be plugged into a power source. You should think about how dark the area in which you need the extra light will be.

How good is an LED work light?

An LED work light can have a number of advantages over standard bulb lamps. Some of them can include but may not be limited to:
  • Long Service Life — An LED light can last up to 100,000 operating hours or longer, which is up to four times longer than the expected lifespan of a fluorescent bulb.
  • Energy Efficiency — Switching to an LED light can give you an average savings of 60-75% in energy costs, so it outperforms more traditional lighting technologies.
  • Compact Size — Because an LED light will be smaller, it will be more adaptable in terms of its application. It can be also installed in more restrictive areas where a larger fixture can’t be placed.
  • Durability and Reliability — An LED light won’t have any fragile parts (such as glass or filaments), so it will be more resistant to rough handling. It can survive a knock or drop much better than a traditional work light, which is a tremendous advantage.
  • End of Life Control — An LED light will dim over time instead of failing suddenly, which is the case with a standard bulb. So, you won’t be caught in the middle of a job without light. You will also have plenty of time to address the situation and replace the bulb before it becomes a major problem.
  • More Environmentally Friendly — Because it doesn’t have any dangerous materials (such as mercury), an LED light is a safer option compared to a fluorescent or mercury vapor light.
  • Free of Radiation — Unlike fluorescent lighting, an LED light doesn’t emit any dangerous radiation in the form of ultraviolet rays. Prolonged exposure to these lights can cause problems to your eyes and skin. So if this is a concern, an LED light can be a better option.
  • Safety — An incandescent bulb can convert up to 90% of the energy it consumes into heat. And aside from the lack of efficiency, there’s a major safety concern. An LED light generates no forward heat when it’s in operation, so its housing won’t reach potentially dangerous heat levels.
  • Instantaneous — An LED light can turn on and off instantaneously. They don’t need time to warm up, which is the case with metal halide alternatives. And turning it off won’t cause degradation of the unit itself.
  • Cost Savings Over Time — An LED work light will save you money over time, because it emits more lumens per watt than an incandescent bulb. Performance also won’t be impacted by its size or shape, which can also be an advantage.
