FEATURES OF THE HULTAFORS HV AND PV SPIRIT LEVELS

Both the PV and HV spirit levels from Hultafors have three vials that can work both in a horizontal and vertical position. They’re also protected by a crush-proof casing, which enhances its durability. Each vial has a luminescent reflector and a magnifying lens, which makes them easier to read. Both models have removable end caps, and the main body is made of aluminum. The box profile will give you extra strength, while the hourglass profile will give you better grip. This Hultafors spirit level can be operated with one hand, and it has a 0.5 mm tolerance (even when it’s in the inverted position).

FEATURES OF THE HULTAFORS LIBELLA 2000 SPIRIT LEVEL

This Hultafors spirit level has a cast aluminum housing, as well as a milled measuring surface. Its crush-proof vials make this tool extremely durable. And because each one has a magnifying lens, they’re easier to read. Due to its compact size, the Hultafors Libella 2000 Spirit Level can be used in a narrow space. But you can extend its length with rails. The maximum length to which you can extend it is 3100 mm, which you can do with 600 mm or 900 mm rails. By fitting it with a gradient wedge, you can use this device to check inclines. And it has a sensitivity of 2 mm, which is five times more sensitive than standard spirit levels. It also has a tolerance of 0.25 mm in the standard position and 0.75 mm tolerance when it’s inverted.

When was a spirit level invented?

The spirit level was invented by Melchisedech Thevnot, who was a wealthy Frenchman that served as a royal librarian for King Louis XIV. But he was also an amateur mathematician and scientist. He noticed that for a bubble inside a tube of water to position itself at the exact center, it needed to be on a surface that was exactly horizontal. Improvements were made to this principle since its discovery in 1661, but it wasn’t until the early 18th Century that the spirit level experienced widespread use.

How accurate is a Hultafors spirit level?

The best spirit levels are accurate within a plus or minus range of 0.5mm per meter (which is 0.005 inches per inch) or 0.029 degrees. And because Hultafors is considered to be one of the best tool manufacturers in the industry, you can be sure to get this kind of accuracy from one of their spirit levels. Feel free to look at what we have at Engineer Supply, so you can find a tool that’s right for you!

How does a Hultafors spirit level work?

A spirit level has either a glass or plastic vial that’s filled with a colored liquid and a bubble of air that moves horizontally or vertically according to how the instrument is moved, and the best ones have both. Each vial has two graduation marks that are spaced in a way that will allow the bubble to be positioned between them, which will determine if the surface is horizontally or vertically level. The accuracy of the level will depend on its quality, which is why you should use one made by Hultafors.
