Cut & Fill Grade Rods
Cut & Fill Grade Rods are great tools to have on any construction site where site prep will occur. Anyone responsible for preparing a site for construction knows that the heavy equipment will need to take off material, known as "cut", or add material, known as "fill". It all starts with an Engineer or Surveyors plan to design a site that works with all utilities, building codes, storm drainage, tie-ins with existing access or highways, all based on elevation. The ideal situation is for the designer to "balance" a site, meaning any cut that is made is then used for fill elsewhere on the site. This results in no material being added to nor removed from the construction site, which saves money by avoiding having to haul material via truck to or from the site. Most Engineers or Surveyors use CAD software or CAD Add-on that has the ability to run a cut-and-fill calculation by comparing existing and proposed topo and spot elevations. Using a Cut and Fill Rod saves time by helping the user figure the difference between cut and fill without having to figure or using a regular grade rod. A "Cut and Fill Rod" will save time and avoid costly errors.
