WHAT ARE GRADE RODS?
Also called a “level rod,” a grade rod is an important instrument for construction, land measurement, and farming. It can help you to determine the differences in elevation on almost any surface, and it’s often used with an optical or laser level. The measurements are marked very clearly in high contrast, which can be on one or both sides. It will also have telescoping sections, so you can measure taller heights both quickly and accurately.

Seco prism poles are meant to be used clean and dry, so very little lubricant is required. But the point body will rust if it’s exposed to wet ground. You can avoid this problem by lubricating it with any kind of grease. The upper mechanism will keep your bolts and hardware tight, so be sure to keep it clean and dry. Never spray it with WD-40 or any other silicone-based lubricant. If the pole gets wet, you can air it out. There’s a drain point located at the front of the pole. Just take off the point and let it sit in a warm, well-lit area. These aluminum poles are conductive, so be careful not to get it into any high-line wires.
