HOW TO CALIBRATE A LASER LEVEL
You want to set up the laser level on a tripod at about 100 feet from a wall, and you need to rotate it so the laser is pointing toward it. Turn on the detector as well as the laser level. And when the detector gives you a signal that indicates levelness, make a mark on the wall. Rotate the laser 180 degrees, and make a level mark by using the detector again. Measure the distance between the two marks. And if it’s within the device’s specified accuracy, it’s at the correct setting. Rotate the laser 90 degrees, and make a mark by using the detector. Measure the distance between this point and the previous one. And if it’s within the device’s specified accuracy, it’s at the correct setting. If it’s outside this range, the device will need to be professionally calibrated.
HOW TO USE A LASER LEVEL
You want to set up the laser level on a tripod or a flat surface. And if it’s not a self-leveling laser, you need to make sure the bubbles show level. Turn on the device. And if it’s a self-leveling laser level, give it a moment to level itself. The unit will emit a laser that will show a level point either on a wall or across an outdoor surface, and the mark it leaves will depend on the type of laser level you’re using. You can use a detector to intercept the laser if there’s no wall to “catch” the beam, which is common for outdoor applications. Attach the detector to a measuring tool, and move it up or down until you hear it beeping. Secure the detector to the rod, and make measurements as necessary.
